HI Everyone,
Thank you so much for participating this weekend in the Mt Vernon HS tournament. Read on for results but I first want to thank all of those folks who helped make it happen. Laura Livingston drove and judged for us, enabling us to attend Saturday. Kelsey McCleary, a new WWU student, came along to judge. And Aimee Frazier drove students on Friday night. Thank you! As you know we can't compete without parent and community volunteers.
There is NO practice on Thursday, November 1st. I am taking returning debaters to the tournament at Whitman. Wish them luck! We will have practice Monday and Tuesday.
The Snohomish tournament is fast approaching- Nov 9th and 10th. We will leave right after school on Friday Nov 9th (exact times TBD) and will pick up students at their schools. We will return around 11pm on Friday. We will leave at 6:30am on Saturday and return around 11pm. I will need drivers/judges for both days so please let me know if you can help. I can use a different driver for Friday and Saturday if someone can only commit to one day.
Please email me (after reading the details) by Wednesday the 31st to let me know if you are going to Snohomish. If I don't have any volunteer drivers I will only be able to take the first 6 that sign up.
And now for Mt Vernon HS results...
Duncan Ogg (SHQS) received 3rd place in Open Lincoln-Douglas debate
Connor Carpenter and Felipe Rivera (Sehome) won 1st place in Open Policy debate
David, Kyler, and Evan all attended their first tournament and did great! Bravo for trying it out. I hope you all have fun and keep with it.
Good job everyone and see you Monday or Tuesday.
