Hello everyone,
I hope you are all enjoying your three day weekend. For the students who went to Federal Way this past Friday/Saturday, the weekend is a little shorter but we had a good time. I have looked at the results and we had a good showing for such a competitive tournament. Federal Way was a qualifying tournament for Tournament of Champions, a prestigious season-end tournament. There were a lot of top teams vying for the bid, and all of our beginning debaters had to move up to Junior or Open with more experienced students.
It was Sehome Freshman Eleanor Kahn's first tournament, so we are proud of both her and Jaime for their record. We had two Lincoln Douglas debaters place in the top 10 speakers (out of 54), Squalicum's Duncan Ogg (7th) and Bellingham's Marina Rossman (8th). Rose Osborne also competed in a competitive category, going 4-2 in Open LD.
And now we look forward to this upcoming weekend, the Mt. Vernon tournament. Please refer to the blog and my last email for information. I need to hear from you by tomorrow since entries are due early Tuesday. So far I only have the following students signed up:
Will
Rose
Eleanor
Jaime
Marina
Duncan
Please don't miss this chance to compete for a state bid. We only have a few tournaments left! Thank you,
Aly Hoover
